Meriden Mineral Club
Monthly Club Meetings
Our monthly meetings are a significant benefit of club membership. They are also open to the public. So if you're thinking about joining, please come and experience a meeting firsthand.
The typical meeting includes a short agenda of pending club business, followed by a silent auction, and a featured speaker. Meeting night is highly interactive with all kinds of interesting finds brought foward for identification, admiration, and even some occassional bragging.
When:
Our meetings are generally at 7:30 p.m., on the 4th Monday of the month, September through June.* There are no meetings in July and August, because our host location is the Meriden local high school which is closed for the summer months.**

While there are no monthly meetings in July and August, we do have field trips, and the annual club picnic during those times.
Where:
Monthy meetings are held at:

Francis T Maloney High School
121 Gravel Street
Meriden, CT
The high school is easy to find and easy to get to. It's at the junction of 3 major 4 lane highways. When your reach the junction, if you look west the school's athletic fields border I-91 and can be seen from the highway. Either northbound or southbound take the East Main St. EXIT, and go west for about 1/4 mile.

What:
(More About Meeting Night)
The meetings are arranged so that there is a get together before the formal meeting kicks off. This is where mystery specimens, that are brought in, are identified by our members' collective wisdom. Also, it's where we get to see what has recently been found by our member digging efforts - a sort of brag session.
The formal meeting, which lasts about half an hour, is where we review and organize up coming club activities. For example, we plan our field trips and annual show, as well as recruiting volunteers for to support these exciting events. This closely follows what has been published in our monthly bulletin. But at the meeting we can discuss these at greater detail if necessary.
After the meeting there is a 15-20 minute refreshment break, before our featured speaker gets to thrill us with inspiration. We start at 7:30 p.m. and end shortly after 9 p.m. The meetings always offer an unpredictable bit of excitement.
