What is Lapidary?

Lapidary is a craft that involves the cutting, polishing, and engraving of gemstones and other materials. A lapidarist uses specialized tools and techniques to shape and polish gemstones, minerals, and other materials. Common lapidary outputs are cabochons, which are polished stones with a flat bottom and a rounded top, and faceted stones, which are cut with multiple flat surfaces to create a brilliant sparkle.

Lapidary is a fascinating and rewarding hobby that can be enjoyed by anyone with an interest in rocks and minerals. Whether you are looking to create jewelry, sculptures, or decorative pieces, lapidary is an enjoyable and rewarding craft that can be enjoyed for years to come.(1)
